We are Twin Cities Chihuahuas, a small family Chihuahua breeder in Minneapolis, and these are our own Chihuahua puppies for sale. Every puppy we sell is born in our house, weighed on our kitchen scale every morning and examined by our vet before it leaves. We raise teacup size and toy size Chihuahuas in long coat and smooth coat, and we place them with families in the Twin Cities, across Minnesota and, by in-cabin flight, much farther away.
These are the puppies in our house today, with price, age and our estimate of adult weight. Puppies find homes quickly, so the full list with photos and weights lives on our puppies page.

People ask us how to tell reputable Chihuahua breeders from the rest. Our answer is that a responsible breeder makes their own claims easy to check. Here is what we put in front of every family before money changes hands:
Our honest opinion: if a breeder will not let you see where the puppies live and will not tell you how big the parents are, walk away, however good the photos look. Our guide to avoiding Chihuahua puppy scams lists the other warning signs, and we are happy for you to run every check on us.
Our adult Chihuahuas are family dogs first. They sleep in our rooms, ride in the car and get their own winter coats. Among them are a black and tan smooth coat male, a fawn and white smooth coat female and a chocolate and tan long coat female, and you will see the girls in the photos on our page about us and how we raise our puppies.
For each breeding dog we keep a health record with four entries: a patella (knee) evaluation, a cardiac exam, an eye exam and a DNA panel. Those are the problems that matter most in a toy breed, especially loose kneecaps. Ask us about the parents of any puppy and we will walk you through their records and their adult weights, because the parents are the best preview of the dog your puppy will become.
Litters are born in a whelping box in a quiet room of our house and move to a pen in the kitchen at about three weeks, where the dishwasher, the doorbell and the family are all part of the day. Every puppy is weighed every single day on a gram scale, from the morning after birth until the day it leaves. A healthy puppy gains daily. One that stalls gets attention that same day, not next week.
That daily weight log goes home with your puppy, so your vet can see its whole growth curve at the first visit. It is also how we make our adult size estimates: we compare each puppy's curve with its parents and with the litters we have raised before. Puppies leave us at 8 to 10 weeks, and the smallest stay until they eat confidently on their own, usually 10 to 12 weeks.
"Teacup" is not a separate breed or a registry size. The breed standard puts a Chihuahua at no more than 6 pounds, with no minimum. We use two plain labels so you know what you are buying.
Every puppy we raise is $700, teacup or toy, long coat or smooth, girl or boy. We set one price so the choice is about the right dog for your home, not the cheapest label. Every size is an estimate, never a guarantee, and we will never promise an adult under 2 pounds. For a first Chihuahua, or a home that is empty all workday, we usually steer families toward toy size; a 5 pound adult is far more forgiving than a 3 pound one. Our guide to how big a teacup Chihuahua gets full grown shows the numbers behind that advice.
| Our label | Projected adult weight | Usual go-home age |
|---|---|---|
| Teacup size | 3 to 4 lbs | 10 to 12 weeks |
| Toy size | 4 to 6 lbs | 8 to 10 weeks |
We raise both coats, and head shape and color vary within our litters. Each type has its own page with the puppies available in it.
There are three ways home, and in every one a person stays beside the puppy the whole time. We never ship puppies as cargo and never hand them to a hired transporter.
If you typed "chihuahua breeders near me" from anywhere in the Twin Cities, this is who you found: a family that keeps Chihuahuas in the house, breeds only Chihuahuas, and raises every litter in our own home in Minneapolis. We do not buy puppies in to resell. We do not run a kennel building out back. The person who answers your application is the same person who weighed your puppy this morning.
Keeping one breed means we know it closely. We know what a healthy Chihuahua newborn should gain in a day, how a long coat changes between 8 weeks and 18 months, and which puppies in a litter will want a busy house and which will want one quiet lap. That knowledge is the whole reason to buy from a specialist breeder instead of a seller with five breeds and a parking lot meeting spot.
A Chihuahua built for warm weather needs a plan for a Twin Cities winter: a fitted coat, short trips out, paw care against road salt and an indoor potty spot. We wrote these guides from our own dogs' routine.

Ask to see where the puppies live, ask for the adult weight of both parents, and ask how the puppy will travel. A reputable breeder answers all three without hesitating. We raise every litter in our Minneapolis home, visits are by appointment, and our puppies leave by pickup or in the cabin with one of us, never as cargo.
Yes. Every litter we breed is AKC registered, and the registration paperwork goes home with each puppy so you can finish the registration in your name. Our puppies go to pet homes on a spay and neuter agreement, which is written into the puppy contract you read before you commit to anything.
We are in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We do not publish the street address, so we share it once a visit is booked. Most of our families live around the Twin Cities, in Minneapolis, St. Paul and suburbs such as Bloomington, Maple Grove, Eagan and Woodbury, and families farther away receive their puppy by in-cabin flight from MSP.
We breed Chihuahuas, and some of our puppies are projected to finish small. We call a puppy teacup size when we expect an adult weight of 3 to 4 lbs, and toy size at 4 to 6 lbs. Both are estimates. We never promise an adult under 2 lbs, and we would turn down anyone asking for one.
Fill in the free adoption application. It asks about your home, your schedule and any other pets, and it does not commit you to a puppy. We read each one ourselves and contact you within 24 hours to talk about the puppies we have now and the one we think fits your household.
